The Grand Mathematics Quiz is all about thrills, challenges, and a lot of problem solving

Get set and be ready to put your math skills to the test at "The Grand Mathematics Quiz".

This exciting and challenging in-person event is perfect for math lovers of all levels (high school pupils year 9, 10, 11, 12) and undergrads (year 1) and would be of interest to any math enthusiast. If you would like to participate, don't hesitate to proceed with registration.

Join us for a Saturday morning full of exciting problems, challenging questions, friendly competition, and lots of learning. Don’t miss out on the chance to show off your number skills and meet fellow math enthusiasts. Bring your thinking cap and let's have a blast and play with numbers, geometry, probability and statistics.

Light refreshments will be provided at the end of the quiz.

The Hon Dr Andrew Leigh MP

Andrew Leigh is an economist, author, and the Australian Labor Party politician who has served as the Federal Member for Fenner in the Australian Capital Territory since 2010. He is currently the Assistant Minister for Productivity, Competition, Charities and Treasury in the Albanese Government.

Dr David Hartley

Dr. David Hartley is a lecturer at the University of Canberra and an experienced mathematician and educator. He completed undergraduate studies in Science and Engineering and earned a PhD in Mathematics from Monash University in 2014, with research focused on the stability of stationary solutions to curvature flows. Dr. Hartley has contributed to mathematics education and student support, and his research interests lie in geometry and mathematical analysis.

Tejas Sapate

Tejas Sapate is a Community Engagement Manager at Community Bank Canberra and Regions part of Bendigo Bank, where he works closely with local communities, businesses, and organisations to strengthen community partnerships and support initiatives that create positive community outcomes.

Hemant

Hemant is a passionate and experienced mathematics and chemistry tutor on Superprof.

He has worked in several public service agencies in Canberra and has a PhD in engineering with more than 10 years of experience as a researcher in both Australian and overseas universities.

He loves organising mathematics quizzes and in 2025 he volunteered as a team coordinator guiding three teams at the international mathematical olympiad (IMO).
